Why do I want to forgive him?

Why do I want to forgive him?
Because if I see him again, I don’t want to hold any resentment towards him.

I want to forgive him because we broke up a long time ago and although a part of me is still disappointed in him, emotions won’t go away in a day.

I want to forgive him because although I trusted him and he let me down, I can’t go through life guarded because I got hurt by someone I loved.

I want to forgive him because sometimes I have great memories of us and, it makes me angry that he never acknowledged how he hurt me. I accept that I might never get an apology from him and, I am making peace with that.

I want to forgive him because he wasn’t capable of loving me the way that I deserved to be loved. The maturer and wiser version of me sees that with clarity and peace.
